Recording Dreams and Keeping a Dream Journal

10/8/2015

Choose a journal you will enjoy writing in. Writing dreams encourages dream recall. Put the notebook and a pen or the recorder next to your bed within easy reach. Try each day to notice the moment of awakening when you transition out of sleep into the day and see if you can remember a dream or part of a dream by keeping your attention turned inward, trying not to move and keeping your eyes closed. Go over the dream. Then, reach for your notebook or recorder and write or dictate the dream.
Going over the dream first before you record can help remember more details. When you record/write your dream, note all the details of the images, feelings, and thoughts of the dream.
